This new boat is a solar electrically powered 6.8m cruising boat, aimed for inshore sheltered waters. It offers many fun and exciting features:
Hull shape
The hull is a revolutionary displacement trimaran shape. This gives an easily pushed but stable hull. Cruising speed is 5 knots for tranquil boating while enjoying the passing views, leaving minimal wake behind you.
Powering
No more fuel to handle or buy!
An efficient electric engine powers the EloTri 701 via a propeller shaft and propeller. Steering is by a steering wheel and the gear lever controls throttle and engine direction. A joystick is a future option.
There are battery options for either the lightest towing weight and highest sprint
speed, or maximum range.
Boating is quiet again!
Lid
The lid rises off the cockpit on electrically powered rams. This provides shelter for the crew from the sun, making boating so much more comfortable on hot days. On cooler days clear PVC screen can be clipped around the cockpit.
On the top of the lid are 3 high tech solar panels. These provide charging for the batteries on board, via a charge controller that optimizes the available charge, and ensures maximum battery life.
When the lid is closed, the cockpit and cabin are sealed from the elements and light fingers, and reduces the windage on the road.
Also available in Electric only, without the lifting lid and panels. This reduces the purchase price, and the boat would need to be recharged by shore power.
Swimming
There is great access to the wharf or water via the full width swim platform.
This opens the cockpit to the water, and gives great access for swimming or diving.
Cockpit
With ample seating for six, the EloTri 701 has a large sociable cockpit. A table swings down from the hard top for dining aboard. A gas barbecue can be mounted on the transom for cooking.
Cabin
Below is a private head with a cassette toilet, sink and vanity. Forward is a comfortable V berth, 2m long and over 1.5m wide at the head of the bed.
Ventilation is through the large fore hatch, or a vent in the anchor locker. Side windows bring light into the cabin.
