TC 424 Trimaran
Designed for a new Malaysian sailing school. Capable of being sailed single handed or with a crew, while being simple to learn to sail on. Being a trimaran it is very stable so good for new sailors building confidence on the water.
The main hull has a shallow cockpit, while the floats are very much wave piercing shapes, designed to come out of the water easily. Centreboard and rudder are dagger styled, for better shallow water handling than a kick up style, but the rudder still has a collision release.
The flat top mainsail is boomless, but features a full width main traveller track for good leach control on reaches. The mainsail is boomless to remove the danger of head injuries from a boom. There is no upwind jib, but a roller furling screacher for more exciting downwind performance. The boat is 2.5m wide, so it doesn't need to be disassembled for trailing. There is no bowsprit, so rigging is very simple.
The first version's hull are fibreglass, but it is expected that the boat will be roto-moulded plastic in the future.
