The TC 12.5 is a performance cruiser being designed with modern
organic curves, rather than flat panels.
With emphasis on shelter from sun and spray while giving the
crew good visibility either over or through the bridge deck.
The main boom sheets off the radar arch, which is connected
to the bridge deck. This clears the cockpit seating of many
sailing controls and means covers can close off part or all
of the cockpit for protection from the elements.
Inside
the large saloon offers good visibility. The galley can be
positioned up on the bridge deck or down in the hulls. Two
double berths are aft, with another forward to starboard,
and twin singles to port, with heads amidships in both hulls.
The forward
part of the bridge deck is for sail and anchor storage. The
rig will be a 3/4 rigged rotating aluminium or composite mast.
Fully battened main and jib will be complimented by a roller
furling reacher.
The cockpit
will have walk through transoms. A permanent outdoor Bar B
Cue is an option. Diesel inboard engines of 27 hp provide
power for the boat.
High aspect
centreboards and rudders will provide good windward performance,
while being retractable for shallow draft.
The boat
are built in a combination of foam core and fibreglass, to
a charter survey specification from High Modulus, with emphasis
on being relatively easy and efficient to build, using female
frames and stressed foam as on my other designs.
Two have
been built alongside each other in Tauranga, and are now sailing.
