This design as aimed at those that want a roomy cruising catamaran with good performance. 11.5m is about the smallest it is possible to get full headroom in the bridgedeck without it looking too high. It is designed with modern curves, rather than flat panels, and distinctive 'cat-like' windows on the cabin to give lots of light below.

Construction will be in foam composite, with minor bulkheads and the interior in plywood, giving a cost effective, well-insulated and light boat.

Shallow draft is a feature, with retractable rudders and centreboards. But with these foils down it will have good windward performance, aided by its wide beam of 7m for good stability. The rig will feature a self-tacking jib, and a semi permanent furling screacher from the prod.

Interior includes a large saloon on the bridgedeck, with the galley down in a hull. There are two singles berth forward. Aft in each hull are the double berths, which feature a large opening vertical hatch looking out across the boarding platform. This has been a feature that has worked particularly well on the TC 10 "Pulse".

The first one is now being built near Warkworth, North of Auckland. If you are interested in having a look, let me know. The frames will be available for future boats shortly.

New Stratis TM Sails by Doyles www.doylesails.co.nz

Hi All,

Her first sail was a light airs race, which she led for much of the race, but beaten into second at the end. A number of competitive local multihulls were behind her for the whole race! Considering this was the first day sailing this was very pleasing for the owners and designer!

On Sunday we had a sail in moderate conditions, achieving 9 knots upwind and 12 knots on a reach, with lots more potential to come. Doyles has supplied beautiful Stratis sails that set beautifully. So as well as being comfortable, she is sailing well too. There are two doubles and four singles below, as well a large saloon, galley and head.

The engines retract cunningly into the chamfer panel. With all the foils up the boat floats in 400mm of water!

Hope you enjoy the photos...
